Fishermen Enraged Over Fishing Quota Restrictions

Fishermen in Plymouth, UK are apparently facing huge losses due to the fisheries policies that have set fishing quotas. It has been reported that recently a huge haul of sea bass had to be put back into the sea owing to the fishing quota restrictions.

The majority of the fish thrown back into sea cannot survive and die if they are not already dead in the first place. Fishermen are very upset for not only does their income get affected, it beats the fundamental purpose for the law which is to conserve the fish species,

Fishermen bring to light that such huge hauls of sea bass usually occur only once or twice a year, however recently it seems to have become a regular affair. They are not quite sure why it is so. They on their part are targeting other species like the cuttlefish and squids while the sea bass gets pulled along too. By the time the sea bass are put back into the sea they are usually dead which makes it such a huge waste. It makes no sense to throw it back in the name of conservation especially when they would die anyway. The fishermen are enraged because their livelihood is at stake because of these policies.

The Prime minister assures them that Britain would leave the common fisheries polices as soon as the Brexit happen. Rumors are doing the rounds that a Britain will become an independent coastal state post the Brexit and an seperate fisheries agreement. With no immediate resolution to the issue and future of the fisheries policy unclear, the fishermen remain the worried lot with their livelihood at stake.
